L’Ecuela, The Old School is situated only 10-15 minutes drive from the centre of Morzine and many of the local ski and mountain bike lifts. The chalet rental sits in a peaceful location in Les Onchets, a small hamlet above the village of St Jean D’Aulps, part of the Portes Du Soleil in the Haute Savoie region of France in the French Alps.

L’Ecuela, The Old School, is situated only 1 1/4 hr from Geneva airport, 30 minutes from the nearest railway station in Thonon les Bains and 40 minutes from the beautiful beaches on Lake Geneva. The nearest supermarket is less than 10 minutes away either in the village of Saint Jean d’Aulps or a large Carrefour on the road to Morzine.

Nearby are the 800 year old Abbaye of Saint Jean d’Aulps, and Abbaye d’Abondance, the goat village in Les Lindarets and the villages and ski resorts of Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Abondance, La Chapelle d’Abondance and Châtel  (all part of the Portes du Soleil) with their amazing range of outdoors winter and summer activities.

UNESCO Geopark Chablais

The chalet is situated in the heart of the UNESCO Geopark Chablais with its multitudes of stunning viewpoints, trails, lakes and waterfalls, ruins and chateaux and the famous Gorges du Pont du diable. 

Within 1 hour heading North

Further afield but still within 1h drive are the stunning medieval village of Yvoire on the shores of Lake Geneva (classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France), the town of Thonon les Bains, Evian les Bains with its casino, water sources and thermals, the town of Montreux with its world famous Jazz festival and the Chateaux de Chillon and the city of Geneva.

Within 1 hour heading South

Going the other way but within an hour’s drive are the picturesque village of Samoens and the stunning scenery, trails and waterfalls of Sixt Fer à Cheval.

A little further afield

The beautiful town and Lake of Annecy, the village of Chamonix and the Mont Blanc mountain range and the nearby Parc de Merlet Animal Park, where you can walk amongst the local wildlife such as Marmottes, Bouquetins and Chamois, all 1.5hr drive away.
